Some people loved him and some people hated him. Kennedy met Jacqueline at a dinner party and according to him he had leaned across the asparagus and asked her to go on a date with him. John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier were married on September twelfth nineteen fifty three. While in the United States John Fitzgerald Kennedy frequently suffered from illnesses. Having taken a 4 year hiatus, arguably the most important and influential pop-punk band of the 90s have finally reformed. Much to the excitement of millions of fans world-wide, Blink took to the road for a world-tour in late 2009 for the first time together since a heated break-up in 2005. Following on from this hugely successful comeback, the trio returned to the studio together to record Neighborhoods, their long anticipated sixth studio album. First up on the album is ‘Ghost on the Dance Floor’. This track immediately brings everything that has made Blink so successful over the years to the floor. DeLonge’s buzz saw guitar combined with Hoppus’ solid bass-line and precise snare and symbol-work of Barker, and the top layer of DeLonge’s highly distinctive vocals. It’s simple 3-chord pop-punk and carries all of the elements that we have all real ly come to associate with this band. Track 2, â€Å"Natives† is really worth a listen. It’s fast-paced with off-the-beat drumming, matched by ecstatic guitar hammer-ons and underlying rumbling bass. In the chorus we hear Hoppus on vocals for the first time, as ever a huge contrast to the much more high-pitched vocals of DeLonge. Again this has rather a dark edge to it, most notably in Hoppus’ choruses making references to Jekyll and Hyde etc. â€Å"Up all Night† was the first single released from the album, but by no means does that mean it’s the best song. Maybe it was released to give a taster for the album without giving away the best stuff prematurely, but for me it’s the album’s first hiccup. The next really notable track is â€Å"Heart’s all Gone†. Again it’s a fast-paced track with extremely fast-paced drumming and excellent instrumentation. As mentioned before, this album as a whole does a good job of taking the elements of Blink’s early years and adding a more mature texture to it and I think this particular track is the best example of that. This album is a really strong addition to Blink 182’s already hugely successful discography. They’ve been hugely influential on a lot of the bands that are around today and I’d be glad to see them stick around to keep influencing new generations.

We, as a race, can eat well, sleep well, drink well, and even love well, but without the capacity to reproduce we cannot continue beyond a single generation. Yet the reproductive component of sex sometimes takes a backseat to more complicated subjects such as intimacy, love, and sexual gratification when considering sex across different stages of life. However emotionally and psychologically complicated sexual intercourse might be, sex still maintains a prominent and even necessary position in human lives from adolescences, through disabilities, and into the later years. Anna The earlier a person dates during adolescence the greater chance that they will engage in sex during high school (Rathus, Nevid, Fichner-Rathus, 2005). Teens who engage in sexual intercourse earlier are also at higher risk for unwanted pregnancies. If a teen is found in the position of unwanted pregnancy and decides to keep the child, then they are more likely to have to abandon school before graduation. Nevertheless, these statistics do not mandate that early adolescent sexual relationships all end in an unwanted pregnancy and the loss of education. Quite the opposite, the aforementioned numbers simply serve to highlight the fact that there is a foreseeable pattern of events that can lead to unwanted, teenage pregnancies. In order to beat the odds certain precautions must be taken to ensure both physical and mental stability throughout the adolescent years and into the young adult years. It might also be  helpful to know that about 24% of teen women sampled in a particular study said that they engaged in sex with their partners only because the other partner wanted to have sex (Rathus, Nevid, Fichner-Rathus, 2005). So this situation is not so uncommon. Apparently many young ladies are dealing with exactly what you are dealing with. However, it is absolutely necessary that parents are involved in the discussion of sex in an adolescents life. On the same note, it is also important that parents be open and understanding when addressing concerns of teen sex. The best course of action to take would be to sit down with your parents and have a frank, open conversation about contraception, relationships, and most importantly the young man in your life. Tom and Susan One particularly study maintains that at the age of sixty 94% of men and 84% of women remain sexually active (Rathus, Nevid, Fichner-Rathus, 2005). Moreover, of those that remain sexually active past sixty 74% of men and 70% of women claim that sexual satisfaction in their later years surpasses their sexual satisfaction in their earlier years. These two statistics serve to illustrate the dual points that sex is not uncommon in those past 60 and that sex is more likely than not to be a satisfying experience for those over 60. As we all know physical changes take place when transitioning from the middle years of our lifes into our later years. For instance, men might find in their later years that it is more difficult to obtain an erection and even more difficult to maintain an erection. Women may discover a drop in vaginal lubrication and elevated vaginal irritation during intercourse. However, like my mother used to say: when life gives you lemons make lemonade. Both the changes in male and female sexuality can become advantages in later years rather than vices. What are the two biggest sexual complaints of young, married couples? What were yours? I have heard many times from men that they lament reaching orgasm so quickly and cant fully enjoy sexual experiences with their partners as a result. Young women have expressed grief that they cannot reach orgasm quick enough during sexual intercourse. Now that you are both more advanced in years you have the opportunity to enjoy sexual intercourse in a much more fulfilling way. Since more stimulation is required for you, Tom, to obtain and maintain an erection you should have plenty of time to enjoy sexual intercourse before reaching orgasm. Likewise, Susan, the decrease in vaginal lubrication will act to make the vaginal walls much more sensitive, which should allow you to reach orgasm much more readily than in your younger years. These changes are a gift, not a curse. Bill Researchers have consistently found that three-quarters of those paralyzed as a result of spinal cord injuries are able to achieve an erection, but only 10% are able to achieve natural ejaculation (Rathus, Nevid, Fichner-Rathus, 2005). This can be explained, in part, because even though feeling has been lost below the waist reflexive erections, those who obtain through direct tactile stimulation of the penis, can be obtained and maintain throughout sexual intercourse. This is possible because the sacral erection center is located in the bottom portion of the spinal cord and is therefore still connected to the male reproductive system. However, if for some reason penile erection cannot be obtained other sexual areas of the body can be utilized for sexual stimulation. Areas such as the ears, neck, and even nipples can produce erotic sensations. Sexuality for those who have incurred spinal cord injuries is quite possible and even desirable when engaging in an intimate relationship with someone. Conclusion In conclusion, the subject of sex encompasses far more areas than just reproduction. Intimacy, sexual gratification, and sexual difficulties all play a prominent role in the discussion of sex as it pertains to adolescence, disabilities, and sex in the later years. The Heros Journey and Archetypes in Literature

The Heros Journey and Archetypes in Literature Carl Jung called archetypes the ancient patterns of personality that are the shared heritage of the human race. Archetypes are amazingly constant throughout all times and cultures in the collective unconscious, and youll find them in all of the most satisfying literature. An understanding of these forces is one of the most powerful elements in the storyteller’s toolbox. Understanding these ancient patterns can help you better understand literature and become a better writer yourself. Youll also be able to identify archetypes in your life experience and bring that wealth to your  work.   When you grasp the function of the archetype a character expresses, you will know his or her purpose in the story. Christopher Vogler, author of The Writers Journey: Mythic Structure, writes about how every good story reflects the total human story. In other words, the heros journey represents the universal human condition of being born into this world, growing, learning, struggling to become an individual, and dying. The next time you watch a movie, TV program, even a commercial, identify the following archetypes. I guarantee youll see some or all of them. The Heros Journey The word hero comes from a Greek root that means to protect and serve. The hero is connected with self-sacrifice. He or she is the person who transcends ego, but at first, the hero is all ego. The hero’s job is to incorporate all the separate parts of himself to become a true Self, which he then recognizes as part of the whole, Vogler says. The reader is usually invited to identify with the hero. You admire the heros qualities and want to be like him or her, but the hero also has flaws. Weaknesses, quirks, and vices make a hero more appealing. The hero also has one or more  inner conflicts. For example, he or she may struggle over the conflicts of love versus duty, trust versus suspicion, or  hope versus despair. In The Wizard of Oz  Dorothy is the storys hero, a girl trying to find her place in the world. The Job of the Herald Heralds issue challenges and announce the coming of significant change. Something changes the hero’s situation, and nothing is the same ever again. The herald often delivers the Call to Adventure, sometimes in the form of a letter, a phone call, an accident. Heralds provide the important psychological function of announcing the need for change, Vogler says. Miss Gulch, at the beginning of the film version of The Wizard of Oz, makes a visit to Dorothys house to complain that Toto is trouble. Toto is taken away, and the adventure begins. The Purpose of the Mentor Mentors provide heroes with motivation, inspiration, guidance, training, and gifts for the journey. Their gifts often come in the form of information or gadgets that come in handy later. Mentors seem inspired by divine wisdom; they are the voice of a god. They stand for the hero’s highest aspirations, Vogler says. The gift or help given by the mentor should be earned by learning, sacrifice, or commitment. Yoda is a classic mentor. So is Q from the James Bond series. Glinda, the Good Witch, is Dorothys mentor in The Wizard of Oz. Overcoming the Threshold Guardian At each gateway on the journey, there are powerful guardians placed to keep the unworthy from entering. If properly understood, these guardians can be overcome, bypassed, or turned into allies. These characters are not the journeys main villain  but are often lieutenants of the villain. They are the naysayers, doorkeepers, bouncers, bodyguards, and gunslingers, according to Vogler. On a deeper psychological level, threshold guardians represent our internal demons. Their function is not necessarily to stop the hero but to test if he or she is really determined to accept the challenge of change. Heroes learn to recognize resistance as a source of strength. Threshold Guardians are not to be defeated  but incorporated into the self. The message: those who are put off by outward appearances cannot enter the Special World, but those who can see past surface impressions to the inner reality are welcome, according to Vogler. The Doorman at the Emerald City, who attempts to stop Dorothy and her friends from seeing the wizard, is one threshold guardian. Another is the group of flying monkeys who attack the group. Finally, the Winkie Guards are literal threshold guardians who are enslaved by the Wicked Witch. Meeting Ourselves in Shapeshifters Shapeshifters express the energy of the animus (the male element in the female consciousness) and anima (the female element in the male consciousness). Vogler says we often recognize a resemblance of our own anima or animus in a person, project the full image onto him or her, enter a relationship with this ideal fantasy, and commence trying to force the partner to match our projection. The shapeshifter is a catalyst for change, a symbol of the psychological urge to transform. The role serves the dramatic function of bringing doubt and suspense into a story. It is a mask that may be worn by any character in the story, and is often expressed by a character whose loyalty and true nature are always in question, Vogler says. Think Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion. Confronting the Shadow The shadow represents the energy of the dark side, the unexpressed, unrealized, or rejected aspects of something. The negative face of the shadow is the villain, antagonist, or enemy. It may also be an ally who is after the same goal but who disagrees with the hero’s tactics. Vogler says the function of the shadow is to challenge the hero and give her a worthy opponent in the struggle. Femmes  Fatale  are lovers who shift shapes to such a degree they become the shadow. The best shadows have some admirable quality that humanizes them. Most shadows do not see themselves as villains, but merely as heroes of their own myths. Internal shadows may be deeply repressed parts of the hero, according to Vogler. External shadows must be destroyed by the hero or redeemed and turned into a positive force. Shadows may also represent unexplored potentials, such as affection, creativity, or psychic ability that goes unexpressed. The Wicked Witch is the obvious shadow in the Wizard of Oz. Changes Brought About By the Trickster The trickster embodies the energies of mischief and the desire for change. He cuts big egos down to size and brings heroes and readers down to earth, Vogler says. He brings change by drawing attention to the imbalance or absurdity of a stagnant situation and often provokes laughter. Tricksters are catalyst characters who affect the lives of others but are unchanged themselves. The Wizard himself is both a shapeshifter and a trickster.

Interpersonal Skills: It includes the positive attitude, manners, gestures & behavior of a good leader. A good leader should use these interpersonal skills to solve the conflicts in the group & to maintain peace & discipline in the organization. 2. Communication skills: A good leader demonstrates communication skills as being a good listener & speaker. There should n’t be communication barrier between a leader & his subordinates.The meaning of words should be easily understood by both leader & the teammates in order to carry the workflow smoothly. 3. Relationships: Trust is the base of each & every relationship. In order to maintain a good relationship a leader should first understand needs of his teammates which will help him to allocate suitable role to that individual. A good leader should associate with his subordinates; develop the interpersonal relationships & feeling of belongingness. 4. Motivation: A good leader should always ignite the fire in his subordinates in order to meet the desired goal & objective of the organization.Leaders are responsible for building confidence in their teams & setting an example of their own in order to inspire their team. 5. After the feedback which I got from my team mates, I was a bit surprised & stunned as well, because I got to know my strengths & weaknesses more precisely also the areas where I need to improve. Considering interpersonal skill, my group feels I am very good at it. One of my team mates told me he just adores my greeting style like every morning I greet them wishing good morning & keeping a smile on my face.They told me this attitude of mine just drives them to a good start in the morning. Also they liked my positive attitude towards work which motivates them to complete their assignment within the given time limit. They explained me this point giving an example of when we were allocated a task to be completed within short span of time I was the first to take the initiative of being a team leader & taking responsibility on my shoulder, this positive attitude of mine motivated them & we manage to complete the task within the time limit giving the best out of us.Regarding communication skill my group feels that I am excellent at it, I completely agree with them. That’s probably because I have a very smooth communication with them , my gesture, body language, the way I speak is easily understood by them & also the vice versa is true. They also praised me for my excellent listening skills perhaps according to me that’s the most crucial factor a good leader should posses, I strongl y believe in order to be a good speaker you first need to be a very good listener.My group feels I am good at maintaining relationships. One of my team mates told me he was very much surprised to notice my presence in his surprise birthday party. I have always maintained good relations with my team mates not only in the meetings or in the office but also beyond the office walls. Understanding my teammate’s needs has always been first on my priority list; it helps me in order to assign a particular task to the subordinate well suited for that task. It also helps me in making decisions to reward & promote my teammates.Maintaining a good relationship with your team helps in building trust in your team which ultimately results in best work out of your team. Also it’s very vital to maintain relationship with your teammates keeping in mind they don’t take it for granted perhaps then as a leader you won’t be able to get best out of them. My group feels I am good at motivating them in order to make them complete the assigned work in time. I strongly feel that a good leader should have motivational factor in abundance in order to motivate his team.My teammates told me they get very much motivated by the words I use when I am delivering speech. One of my teammates was nervous & frustrated because of the work load I told him about my own experience of life how I faced ups & downs in my life but every time keeping a smile on my face I had enjoyed those phase which brought smile on his face & he assured me hence forth whenever he shall be feeling low he will remember my experience & will go back to work & will deliver the best out of it.He had also thanked me publicly for the motivation I gave him. A good leader should always value the time because it’s well said ‘if you don’t value the time wont value you. ’ Perhaps this is where I need to improve a lot, my group feels that I am average in time management; I whole heartedly welcome their criticism. I have been told by my group that at time I am not punctual in the meetings, well I don’t blame them but for sure I will rectify it keeping in mind as a leader I need to set an example for them that has to be excellent & not just fair or average.My group feels I am good at making decisions, I agree to them because I have taken few decisions which were ironical to them but later on it proved to be beneficial to the organization. Perhaps keeping in mind the goals & setting ethical standards I need to improve in making decisions. When it comes to giving feedback I know I am a bit reserved because I don’t want to hurt anybody’s emotions or ethics. That’s why my group feels I am poor at giving feedbacks.A good leader should always give accurate feedback to his subordinates it helps them to improve in future also it furnish them with the compliments & rewards they get from the feedbacks which b uilds their confidence level. A good leader should always be fair in giving feedback this is where I need to improve a lot because my feedbacks are always positive to all my team mates even if their work is not appropriate which hinders them to learn & improve in future.I strongly believe that life is a learning process & as a good leader I have always learn from whatever came on my way whether it’s a compliment or it’s a criticism. From the feedbacks I have learned that I need to be fair in giving feedbacks, I need to manage time well & I need to lead my team in a correct path which leads to achieving the desire goals & objectives of our organization.List of References 1.
